Exploring the Vending Machine (By: Kimberly A. Tessmer, RD LD)
Has this happened to YOU? You are starving and the only thing in sight is the good old vending machine. Well, don't panic. There are decent choices you can make from most vending machines. Stay away from the candy, chips, cookies, donuts, and other high fat, high sugary and high calorie snacks. Instead opt for the pretzels, baked chips, animal crackers or fruit/grain bars. You can usually find bottled waters or juices in the drink machines. Better yet, if you know you will have a long break in between meals, tuck a healthy snack in your purse, brief case or pocket in case of emergencies!

Don't Give-up Pizza Night (By: Kimberly A. Tessmer, RD LD)
You don't have to give-up pizza night with the family because you are trying to eat healthier! You can enjoy pizza by making better choices. Skip the high fat toppings such as pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, and double cheese. Instead opt for loads of fresh veggies, Canadian bacon and/or fruit. Order a side salad with your pizza for an extra shot of veggies instead of choosing more fattening side dishes. And most of all watch your portion sizes! Enjoy a slice or two and fill up on your salad. You can have your pizza and eat it too!!

The summer is here and so are weddings! If you are going to tie the knot this summer think about giving your wedding party the gift of health instead of jewelry or other popular gifts. Buy a short-term health club membership for your wedding party or even an exercise video. What better way to say thank you and that you care! |
